Introduction
As I stood on the soil of Xibaipo, memories of the past as well as hope for the future flooded my mind. This small village in Hebei Province was where the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) established its headquarters and worked tirelessly to overthrow the Kuomintang and establish the new China. I had visited Xibaipo many times before, but this trip in 2008 had a different significance. It was the first time I returned to Xibaipo after becoming a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC). In this article, I share my reflections on the trip and how it deepened my understanding of the CCP's history and mission.
Xibaipo: A Symbol of Revolutionary Spirit
Xibaipo was not only a revolutionary base, but also a symbol of the CCP's revolutionary spirit. From 1948 to 1949, the CCP held the grand strategic conferences in Xibaipo, during which Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai and other leaders formulated the political line and strategic policies that led to the victory of the Chinese Revolution. Standing in front of the Jinggangshan-style Memorial Hall, the Monument of Xibaipo Conference and other historical sites, I couldn't help but be moved by the collective efforts of the CCP members who worked in these humble buildings, facing challenges and adversities, and yet never gave up on their dreams of a better China for the people. It is this spirit of perseverance and sacrifice that defines the CCP and sets it apart from other political parties.
Lessons from Xibaipo: Upholding the Party's Principles
As a member of CPPCC, I am well aware of the importance of upholding the CCP's principles and fulfilling our duties as a united front organization. However, my trip to Xibaipo gave me a deeper understanding of what this means. The CCP's principles of Marxism-Leninism, Mao Zedong Thought, Deng Xiaoping Theory, Three Represents and Scientific Outlook on Development are not just slogans on a banner, but a compass that guides our thoughts and actions. At Xibaipo, I realized that the Party's principles are not static, but evolving with the times. We must constantly adapt and innovate in order to serve the people and lead the country towards prosperity and harmony.
The Way Forward: Carrying on the Revolutionary Legacy
Xibaipo is not just a relic of the past, but a source of inspiration for the present and future. The CCP's legacy of revolution, development and stability must be carried on by us, the current generation of leaders and activists. We must learn from the strengths and weaknesses of our predecessors, and strive to build a strong, prosperous and democratic China that lives up to the ideals of the CCP. As I left Xibaipo, I felt a renewed sense of responsibility and determination to contribute to the great cause of the Chinese people.
Conclusion
Xibaipo is a place of memories, but also of dreams. It is where the CCP's revolutionary history was made, but also where its future is being shaped. As a member of CPPCC and a citizen of China, I am proud of the Party's achievements and confident in its ability to overcome challenges and achieve greatness. Xibaipo, I will always come back to you, to pay my respects and draw strength from your spirit.
